Armenia was founded on October 14, 1889, during the settlement of the region by people from Antioquia. Its rapid growth and development earned it the nickname “The Miracle City.”

The earthquake of January 25, 1999, deeply transformed the city. Its reconstruction became a symbol of strength, solidarity, and resilience—values that remain an important part of the local identity.

From Armenia, visitors can easily travel to Cocora Valley, Salento, Filandia, Parque del Café, PANACA, the Quindío Botanical Garden, and numerous coffee farms.
